    Counseling for Trauma

Most people will experience some form of trauma in their lifetime. Trauma can include but not be limited to a car accident, abuse or neglect, the sudden death of a loved one, a violent criminal act, exposure to the violence of war, or a natural disaster.

While many people recover from trauma over time with the love and support of family and friends, others may find healing difficult. Healing difficulties can cause a person to live with suppressed or repressed emotional pain or fear far after the traumatic event has passed.

The therapists at BALM want to help you heal from your past trauma. Healing is not an easy or pretty process as it takes much hard work and commitment. With that, we at BALM believe you can achieve your goals of healing to become the best version of you.

Here are several symptoms that may be experienced after a traumatic event:

    • Avoiding specific locations, sights, situations, and sounds that remind you of the trauma
    • Flashbacks and/or nightmares
    • Agitation, irritability, and hypervigilance
    • Loss of interest in activities
    • Guilt
    • Insomnia
    • Social isolation
    • Intrusive thoughts

Research has proven psychotherapy to be the most effective form of treatment for trauma. For treatment, I prefer to use an eclectic approach. Meaning multiple methods are used together in order to help you heal from your trauma.

If you or someone you know experiences the trauma symptoms listed above, we are confident that we can help and invite you to contact us today for a free consultation.
